And we're of to an interesting start...

I'm writing you this brief update from Atlanta, or as I prefer to call it, hot-lanta, which is besides the point. We made an emergency landing here for a sick patient. This is actually the second time in two months (and second time ever) I've been on a plane where the flight attendants asked if there were any medical personnel on board. Fortunately, each time I've stood up in my seat, I've seen other people leaving theirs with an air of confidence, and thus presumably a full medical degree too, and quietly return to my own.

There was actually no shortage of physicians traveling from Boston to Houston today, at least 5, to attend to this poor gentleman. All I was able to gather was low blood pressure (88 over palp...not good). These airplanes are quite well equipped, they quickly had IV fluids running into this man. The stewardess then emerged from the back with a tray of drugs, not unlike the ones you see the anesthesiologists running around with in the ORs.

We landed, the EMTs promptly came on board and took the gentleman off. We are now waiting, we used up all of our medical supplies and have to wait for more. And now if you'll excuse me, I have to go make some phone calls, because surely I'll be missing my next flight.
